How to use Windows 7 "Pre-existing OS license required" on fresh install?

Question by Larry W: How to use Windows 7 “Pre-existing OS license required” on fresh install?

I am building a new computer and my father works at a University which provides very cheap student media disk. He bought a Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade disk but on it, it says that I need a Pre-existing OS license. What would happen when I try to activate it without one? How do I bypass this?

Can I first install my old windows 7 home premium and then put this in and upgrade?

Hi,

As it is an upgrade disk you need an existing installation of windows to use it.

You can’t bye-pass it that is piracy.
