How do I recover a Microsoft Office 2010 publication?

Question by : How do I recover a Microsoft Office 2010 publication?

Hi. I was in a hurry yesterday and without thinking, closed my publication without saving it. In Microsoft Office 2010 it says a temporary version will be created if you click ‘no’ when it asks to save your work.

Thanks!!!

I don’t know how your supposed to recover the files, but if you look under File->Options->Save there are the options to auto save and to keep the last unsaved version of the file. If you have those options checked (I did and I have a default install) then the next item gives the path of where the files will be saved.

If you look in the indicated path, probably C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\, then you might be lucky and find your file. Other Office applications should be similar.

If you’ve reopened the document and made a change, then you may well have blown away the previous version, but there is a previous versions feature as well that might save you.

What do you think? Answer below!
