i’ve been trying to download microsoft office on a 60 day free trial but it’s asking for the product key?

Assuming you are downloading it from the US site (or the UK site works like the US site), there should have been a trial key generated on the same page the download button was on. I just tried it from http://www20.buyoffice.microsoft.com/usa/product.aspx?family=o14_officehb_try&country_id=US&WT.mc_id=ODC_enUS_HomeBusiness_Try&WT.mc_id=ODC_ENUS_OATTryHome_MonTry and the key appears directly above the download button. Look for the text: Product Key (FPP).
