Question by Captain Chaos: Why is the hard drive still so full after I have reinstalled Windows XP?

I have just reinstalled Windows XP on my son’s PC after it became very slow and seemed to have a virus. It went okay and the PC works much better now, but the hard drive still seems very full. It is an 80 GB drive and after reinstall, is showing 73GB used space, even without any programs being installed. Should I just buy another hard drive and start again?

You didn’t reinstall correctly, try again, only this time *Overwrite* the hard drive rather than add to it…
